We are grateful for this opportunity to introduce you to our Church.
A true Church is a family of those who have come to faith in Jesus Christ and have entered into a new relationship with God.
Cookstown Baptist Church came into being in 1952 as a result of a desire on the part of a small number of believers to establish a Baptist witness in the town.
Over the years many have come to hear the Word of God proclaimed and, finding new life in Jesus Christ, have the desire to follow Him.
Our aim has always been to be fresh and relevant in worship and preaching. We lay strong emphasis upon our Sunday services, but realise and seek to fulfil our responsibility to reach out to those around us.
Cookstown Baptist Church is an Evangelical Church. We believe the Bible is the inspired, infallible Word of God and that all are sinners in need of a Saviour. Jesus Christ, the Son of God, died on the cross, bearing the blame for our sins so that we through faith might be forgiven and have peace with God. He gives His Holy Spirit to all believers, enabling them to be godly and effective in life.
The Lord’s Supper
The Lord’s Supper is an important part of our Worship and in fact we climax our worship by gathering each Sunday with those who are saved, to engage in remembering Him who first remembered us and said, “This do in remembrance of Me.”
Baptism
We believe that it is Christ’s command that all who follow Him should be baptised by immersion as believers. (Matt 28:18-20, Acts 2:38)
